do i need a new jack?

i noticed today the input jack on my prestige RG seemed kinda looser than before. also, when it's plugged into an amp if you touch the lead a bit (eg. wobble it slightly, push it around) the sound cuts out.

i've had 3 performances in the last 3 days and i'm wondering if i might have stepped on my lead accidentally and yanked something inside the guitar, but i can't remember.

i've searched around a bit and apparently the barrel jacks on RG's aren't the greatest invention ever since you can't bend the prongs like you can on a strat and keep em going. i looked around inside the jack cavity, but i can't seem to do much.

the guitar is only about 8 months old.

what should i do?

just try holding the base of the jack on the inside of the guitar and twist the jack clockwise to tighten it and check whether the wires are soldered on properly, if they are check your lead(s).

you can't see the lead protruding on the inside of the guitar. it doesn't reach that far.

Re: do i need a new jack?

I've had same problem. Solved by bringing the 2 wires closer together inside the guitar. It seemed that with moving the guitar, they would move away from each other, thus causing sound cuts and unwanted buzzes.
A tech can do it for you in 5 minutes.
Cheers!

p.s. you should try another jack on, before u hit a tech, to eliminate the possibility
