Dumb question - adding 4th spring on edge block

Hi there, I just wanted to know where to put the fourth spring when the edge block just has 3 holes in it.
The outer 2 springs straight into the outer holes and the inner 2 angled into the same hole?
Or do I have to use the holes meant for the spring lock screws??

Umm.. and if you want me to, I'll explain later why anyone would ever want to add a fourth spring, but thats another story

you'll have to use one of the threaded holes. either one is fine... glen

Actually, you want to use both threaded holes, leave the center open

I've pulled out spring and re-attached the lock bar, no sweat.

i'd use one threaded hole... then use the other to screw down the retainer bar. also in the TECH SETUP area of this site, there is photos of using an alternate springs to accomplish this (perhaps with longers screws too).

The lock bar is fairly unnecessary, I'd much rather have equal tension on each side of the bridge

LOL. the lock bar is a significant improvement over the OFR. Equal tension is somewhat irrelevant considering the string gauges ...glen

Equal tension is more relevent to me than a neat gadget that never finds it's way back on my players

I've never ever ever seen a spring shoot off loose from the trem block without some extraordinary help...

i guess they engineered that part just to make the edge parts diagram look more impressive and complicated.
abrupt pull-up will dislocate a nice, broken-in spring. your mileage will vary... glen

Hasn't happened to me yet, when it does, I'll sing a different tune

I had my 540R hit by a tractor trailer doing 70 on I95, that threw a spring off the bock, didn't break a string though
