Duplicating a 7dbk finish

Does anyone know how the 7dbk finish is done? I would like to try it, in a different color, on a guitar?

Thanx,
Peter

When you have a thick layer of paint and you try to burn it a little bit, you get a layer with bubbles. Don't burn it too hard! To get a beautiful colored guitar, you must paint the burner guitar again with the desired color.

That is just how I would try it....It is just a guess to the solution...

I'm not sure exactly how they do it, but when I look closely at the spackle on the walls of my house, it's very close (just not black, hehe) It has the same base coat with the scratch/scrape lines in it with the lumpy stuff sprayed over the top. Talk to a drywall person- they'll tell you how to do it.

A strange thing I noticed is that my '99 Jem7DBK had a matte-black base coat with gloss-black clumps. My 2002 Jem7DBK has like a gloss coat over the entire guitar. I'm not really sure which one I like better- they both look cool. I should probably do a search to research this because it's probably been discussed here before, but why did they change it and which do most people here prefer?

I played a brand new one about 2 weeks ago and the finish was a matte black paint then its srayed with truck bedliner. I have a bedliner called toff and it is identical. It only costs about 250 to do a truck bed so a guitar body would be very inexpensive. Just remember to tape off where the pickguard and cover plates go.
