e string keeps breaking at the same place...

Hey guys,

I have an Ibanez Jem (the white one) and I have the following problem: the small e string breaks at the same place very frequently. I have to change it a few times in a month and its become rather annoying.

It breaks right where the bridge holds it. The small silver "ball bearing-esque" thing holds the string seems to make it snap. Upon touching it, it doesn't seem unusually sharp or anything. Is this normal?

Sometimes you can't feel or see the sharp edge that sometimes forms and causes string breakage. Take a piece of cotton and swab the saddle and everywhere the string comes in contact with. If theres a sharp protruding edge, it'll snag the cotton and you should be able to see where it is. Sometimes that edge can be sanded down to be smooth again. The idea is to look for any knife-like shards that could cause string breaking when pressure is applied (such as a trem pull up)

The cotton trick is a great idea. Meanwhile, you could also try switching that saddle with another(like the low E). If the saddle does have alittle burr on it, the wound low E string will likely not care. That would be a quick and dirty thing that just might work.
