Edge 3 Tremelo Blocking

I've heard that the Edge 3 Tremelo is HORRIBLE. Like never stays in tune. If i blocked it like an OFR would it make any difference in the tuning?

Re: Edge 3 Tremelo Blocking

well.. does YOURS stay in tune? if it does then there's no problem. if it doesn't, go for it.
don't go doing work for the sole reason that you've heard others have had problems before. personally i've read if setup well it can be decent.

and if you blocked it, it would be the same as any other blocked trem, the tuning will be fine

cool, yeah i kinda guessed you might not have one yet, but bottom line is, it can be blocked or setup well enough, so don't worry til after you get the guitar and actually start having problems with it

I dont know if youll like the body shape. Its definitely not for everyone. If your into explorers, destroyers, or iceman body styles, or even an ml dean, it might not be that big of a change for you. The trem can be setup fine, but is inferior to the higher end units.

I love the razorback and I own a warlock, i'm good

So what would I need to do to play with 11 gague and drop into C standard/drop C? like spring tension and ETC.

Is the xiphos a good choice? I love metal. Just flat out.

Re: Edge 3 Tremelo Blocking

Well 11 gauge strings would require an extra spring for standard tuning but if your wanting to play in c standard all the time then perhaps not. The stock strigns on the ziphos are probably 9's. If i were you though id try a set of 10.5 daddarios.

The guitar would need a full setup for such a change in tension. Full vibrato system adjustment, truss rod, intonation etc.

Go try one at Chuck Levins in greenbelt or Melodee Music in Sterling. Do it on a saturday and enjoy the drive.

Re: Edge 3 Tremelo Blocking

Havn't tried a Xiphos, but i've got a VBT-700.

The D-Activator pickups are excelent for metal, and the thru neck wizard II is great.

Rock on!
