edge III

Just bought a Xiphos with an edge III and I have a few questions you guys seem more knowledgeable and less judgmental than the Ibanez forum guys so here it goes….

Intonation Tool ???
Which one can I use I suspect the one for the lo-pro will fit. Is this correct?
The guy who did my set up said he can sell me one for 35 bucks this seems high for such a small piece of metal.

Edge III ???
Can I use the a Floyd Lo Pro in this route cause I am not so sure I really liked this tech I went too. I would rather use someone else. I am under the impression I can use an OFR no problem, no re route ????

I am new to floating trems. I have two Les Pauls and a SRV Strat so I like the feel of the edge III but I can see how some may feel the metal is inferior. I play mostly studio work so I am not going to do any abusing type tricks with the trem… simple dive here and there but I am researching replacements for the future.

Xiphos comment
OK I researched this guitar B4 I bought it and I knew what I was getting. I played it in the store and was amazed by the tones I could get. The shape is a bit crazy but surprisingly comfortable to play sitting down and well balanced when standing (well after you relocate the strap pins)
People are complaining about the MII thing and I don’t see a problem with this guitar. Pups are great I mean they clean up really well and I was even doing some blues and jazz runs on it> When I blast it thru the Zombie and my Marshall Tube amp it freakin screams even better than it did in the store. I haven’t recorded with it yet (this will be the real test) But I am very confident it should translate pretty well

So is this just the “my Gibson is better than your Greco or Burny” situation? Or has someone found a legitimate flaw in the guitars construction? Because I have not.. I got an excellent deal on it, close to cost I am sure ($477 US) I ended up spending a $100 on the set up though but that was a lesson learned…I will most likely go back to my old guy if he deals with Floyds…. If I do decide to upgrade the Trem

ALSO
Schaller vs OFR vs Licensed by ….
Any help here? I have found some OFR new in box for about $200 in black
I would consider the Edge Lo Pro as well but they are what about 250-300 or so ?
I guess I could go with the OFR and just get used to the whale tail thing

Thanx in advance for any helpful comments

Re: edge III

Gotoh is often a very popular choice and will drop-in the slot for the Edge III.

However you can't go wrong with Schaller or the OFR.

The Edge LoPro/Edge will require routing
