Edge III for Original

Is it possible to replace an Edge III tremolo with an Original Floyd Rose on the RG 350 DX?
Thx.

Yes, it is possible and the most recommended swap IMO.

Re: Edge III for Original

are the origional floyds better in function, i thought the floyd design in spec from saddle to nutt, and the sustain block were relatively the same design but i always thought changinghte strings on the origional floyd was a pain in the ass, and those longer bolts i always stripped...but the edge system has a more solid string securing mechanism i think

Re: Edge III for Original

For me, the difference between original Floyds and the Edge variants is more about comfort(the original Floyds have a lot of sharp edges and corners) and sweeter tone(YMMV) as the softer cast parts of the Edge seem to make the sound a little less crisp(just a latter of taste here). Ever since getting my first RG550, I have not had any interest in any other Floyd-style bridge. I have been very happy with original Edge, LoPro and Edge Pro and have all 3 in my collection with no clear fav. If I had to use a non-Ibanez bridge, original Floyd would definitely be my choice.

Re: Edge III for Original

Well you see, I recently purchased an ESP Edwards E-FR 130 GT and that goes with the Original Floyd, I find it more comfortable to use, and I like its looks more. Now I'm trying to make my RG 350 DX like the Jem 7V (except for that cut out - I don't like it) I want to switch the black edge III for a golden floyd. I take it that it's possible to change it then?

Re: Edge III for Original

i have no idea, i beleive where the trem posts sit and the over all shape and size of fulcrum plate might be different so you might need to filland re install a trem stud anchor...biut i dont know maybe a seasoned pro on the units will fill you in. i would love to know the actually differences if any on the origional vs trs, pro, edge trems
