edge issues

just bought a universe on a fantastic deal (2nd Ibanez in less than 2 weeks!) but the edge isn't like it should be...angle is fine, but it is stiff and has limited up travel from the neutral position...when I dive down the low B and the G go slack but the other 5 strings stay fairly taught...is this an intonation issue? Trem posts are level and springs seem fine based on all the other edge/lo pro's I own and have owned...can't figure it out.
