Edge/Lo Pro metal - Type of metal?

I've noticed the metal made with TRS trems is really crappy. Strings put grooves in them no problem not to mention the intonation screwed. Just all eaten up.

Now the Edge systems... are they made with steel like that high quality fender trems?

I think the TRS is some kinda crappy die cast iron or something.

...and the gold on 7VWH... is that gold plating???

Ironically, the TRS trems are actually STRONGER than the LoPro's. *Try a dent-test next time you have two lying around. *:-)

The quality of the metal used in Edge and LoPro trems meets or exceeds anything else out there.

Don't try the dent test on the LPE or Edge, the base is spelter (pot metal) and will crack very easy, but you can wail away on the TRS base if you want.

Naw man... TRS is not stronger at all. My Lo-TRS II is all eaten at the saddles and intonation screws. The Edges are also bigger and heavier. I would really really doubt TRS is stronger. Strings put lines in the so fast.

How could Edges not be steel?

I can't compare the saddles on each, but everything about the TRS is cheaper. It's much cheaper to stamp a piece of sheet steel than it is to cast spelter.

Holy cow! 2?!
Edge/LPE baseplates?!

But their so darn thick!
The trem seems invincible to me. I won't be doing anything to it other than play and adjust.

1 6, 1 7, both LPE's. Like I said, spelter cracks easy, these were both stress fractures from shock alone.

The 6 is just junk now, still usable because the break is one of the points in front of the knife, but who want a trem with a busted plate? Luckily Frank Falbo had a spare 7 plate he sold me so that went back into service

I like the aesthetics and the feel of the Edge and Lo Pro trems, but the metal is soft and the plating is poor. Take a Dremel tool to one sometime and you'll see what I mean.

Actually the chrome is extremely durable. The cosmo is vunerable to get the "look", but the gold could definately be a little thicker....

Funny, the cosmo lo pro on my mint UV777GR has already started pitting, but the lo pro (black) in my RG7620 that I've had for 3 years is perfect. And believe you me, the RG gets alot more abuse and sweat on it's trem.....
