Edge locking trem posts

Hi guys. A couple of different RG's have recently come into my possession with original Edge's in them and was wondering up to which year where the locking trem posts standard equipment?

And I'm assuming all Edge's after that were non-locking posts or were there exceptions?

The Edge and Lo-Pro had locking studs. It was when they brought out the Edge Pro's that they lost the locking studs.

Yes. All original Edges should have locking studs. Otherwise either the bridge or the studs (or both) have been changed.

I had thought that I read discussions here that said Ibanez changed the studs on the edge as a cost saving measure around 2003 (to non-locking). One of my RG's definitely has them while the other does not.

The one without stays in tune very well even under heavy whammy abuse and it is a 1998 judging by the serial.

If you guys are correct, that means the one without locking studs is not stock?
