the edge pro 2 is very poor. ive had it setup but is still stiff. Is it just because of its korean cheap origin. are edge lo

Re: Edge pro 2 is poor

I have an Edge Pro II on my Korean built RG and an Edge Pro on my Jap.

The Edge Pro II is stiff, cheap and not a patch on the Edge Pro.

Was the TRS much worse???

IMHO, the TRS is pretty good. It's Japanese made. The TRS-II on the other hand is Korean-made and is total junk.

EP2 is very stiff compared to the lo-pro. It's alright if you don't whammy too often.

Re: Edge pro 2 is poor

TRS is not good imo

however i'm left handed and havn't spend much time with other trems

i recently got a new guitar with OFR, and thats why I'm replacing my TRS, too stiff

upon removal of my TRS I discovered that one of my knife edges was severely worn.

How much do you think the price difference is between the EP and EP2? It can't be much to a hugh company like Ibanez !. The trem system is such a fundamental part of whammy equiped RG. I don't think they should be wasting their time with cheaper inferior versions

The cost difference between EP and EP II might not be that large but if you build thousands of guitars a year the costs do add up.

even if they cost the exact same amount, it'd make little sense for Ibanez to fit it to their "junior' models. all that would do is close the gap (at least in terms of buyer perception) between, say, an RG320 and an RG1570.

Exactly. I do happen to know that it does cost more to make an Edge Pro than an Edge Pro II, however. The EPII is made of a weaker metal than the Edge Pro. Not saying that there's a huge difference in price between the two, but when you're making thousands of them....

I'm actually glad that they came out with the Edge III, though. It's a decent trem once you stretch the strings and the route is exactly the same dimensions as an Original Floyd Rose. So if you don't like the trem, then it's not too much trouble to replace it.
