Edge Pro ~2003: Any problems with this trem?

I'm looking for some info on the Edge Pro from around 2003. For some reason I seem to remember hearing they weren't as good back then, and the design has been refined a little more since. Is this true, or am I imagining things?

Reason I ask is because a friend is looking at a Ibanez Prestige from '03 and it has the EP fitted. Anything we need to look out for? Obviously we don't want to make any mistakes.

Maybe Rich could help out if he's around, I know he's the master when it comes to this sort of stuff.

Bought my 03 7VWH from Rich. No problems whatsoever, it does have the locking stud mod though. I have a late 80's Roadstar II with the original edge so I can compare it to that particular model. I know many people prefer the Lo Pro Edge but I don't have experience with that one.

The Edge Pro hasn't had any changes that I am aware of. The ZR has been updated. Is that what you are thinking of? Nothing wrong with the 2003 edge pro at all. Some prefer other trems, but that's a matter of preference.

At correct intonation many will have aweful string radius, later "improved". Also on the earliest saddle batches you had this problem

Nah, I wasn't thinking of the ZR. I thought I'd read something about the early batches of EP's but wasn't sure.

Thanks for the replies, everyone. So, basically there's nothing that should put us off buying an '03 Prestige, right? I trust Rich's advice 100% on this, and from what he posted it seems pretty safe. I guess if there's a problem it's nothing that can't be fixed quite easily...

On the early bridges, yes. Will every one break a saddle? No, but many will break more than one. It's a saddles, you just replace it.
