Edge Pro and Edge..

Hello,

I've recently purchased a JEM7vwh 2003 model and it comes with this new Edge Pro bridge..looking at the prestige manual, its stating that the bridge should be parallel to the body....so...should I ignore the setup tips provided on this site? Should I ignore that black strip thingy that was previously used as a guide to setup the Edge Bridges?

Pls help me because I've had tons of tuning problems and i'm pretty fustrated.. Those high pull ups of the bars have left it totally out of tune..even the dive bombs have caused the guitar to go out of tune time to time and this is seriously annoying..and the strings keep snapping somehow please do advise...

Alvin..

The principle is the same, the knife edge perpendicular to the stud. The new EP is not an angled design like the Edge or LE so yes, the top parallel to the body is correct [but using the knife is more accurate]. Drop the bar down, let it rise, then tune. Everything down should always return in perfect tune, if not I'd bet you're not stretching your strings thoroughly.

Hmm...

I've already did all you've told me

and this set of strings are about 2 months old :P (Would this matter?)

Let me just ask a stupid question here, should the strings be able to withstand a 5 semitone pullup and still resume the tuning after it? Because, everytime i do this, the entire tuning is screwed up...
Sometimes even after normal bar usuage, the tuning still gets pretty screwed up... please advise?

Alvin..

p.s Thanks Rich

Go through the checklist to rule everything else out [ignore the locking set screws because the new EP doesn't use them, and is quite possibly your problem]
