Edge Pro problem

Help an idiot please. I am an idiot when it comes to adjusting my guitar.
I am 39-years old and I have been playing since I was 11.

I own an Ibanez RG Prestige 1550 BK. Had it for 7-8 years now.
For the last few years I have used the string gauge 10-13-17-26-36-46
This guitar has an Ibanez edge pro bridge.

Now a problem have started to crop up. When the guitar is tuned I just can't get the overside of the bridge in line with the guitar body itself.
The bridge will raise and be a bit upwards towards the guitar neck once the guitar is in tune.
The two claw screws is almost all the way in. Problem is the tremolo block on the underside of the guitar is now touching the guitar body so even if I wanted to I it doesn't matter how long I can move those two claw screws into the guitar.
I bought 3 new very hard tremolo springs but that did't help.
There should be a lot more space between the tremolo block and the guitar body.
What is wrong?

Re: Edge Pro problem

I would put 4 springs instead of three and see what happens.

Andrimner, can you post pictures of the trem cavity at the back of the guitar?

Re: Edge Pro problem

Well I was actually suppose to post some pictures of it but I can't.
If I try I get this message

Anyway I think I know what's the problem with my guitar.
There are six screws holding the tremolo block. Some of these screws are screwed up =)
To put it simple. They are broken. At least a few of them.
So what happens is the tremolo block is loose no matter what I do. That is why I can't get any more space between the block and the guitar.

And regarding a fourth extra spring. There isn't any way of having that in my guitar.
There is nowhere to put it.
So now the question is. Where do I get a new tremolo block and screws?

You need to put a link to pictures of the trem.

Re: Edge Pro problem

So here is my guitar. Only thing I've changed is the pickups.
Don't laugh at the white single in the middle. Ordered the wrong one by mistake.
Whatever I thought.

Here is a zip with some close pictures of my guitar.

http://www.sendspace.com/file/qylwxw

As you can see from the pictures in that zip file even though the bridge is pretty much flat with the guitar body, there still isn't any space between the tremolo block on the underside of the guitar and the guitar body.
The reason is unfortunately that the screw holes in the tremolo block is messed up.
The tremolo block is loose. The screws can't hold it.
That means the whole tremolo block is tilting against the guitar body.

I've picked everything apart and took some pictures

So what will happen is that even if I screw those 5 screws in I won't get the block to sit tight.

So what do I do know? I don't know of any way to fix these holes.
I will probably need a new tremolo block and 5 new screws.
Where can I buy that?

Re: Edge Pro problem

I do this a lot with wood, mess the screw holes up. What I do is I use this stuff called epoxy that you can get at a local hardware store. You fill the hole up with the epoxy, wait for a day or two, then screw the screw back into the hole and it fits nicely.

This is one method that should work for you. You could also fix your problem and upgrade your guitar in the process by buying a new trem block @ www.floydupgrades.com. They run about 55 dollars by the time you buy the block and screws and get it shipped to your place. The blocks they sell are much more substantial, and made of brass. They provide more mass and more weight, which translates to more sustain. The results are pretty impressive.

Thanks for the advice Yousef and As Hell Broke Loose.
Yousef you said that you do this a lot with wood. But do you think it will work with metal?
The tremolo block isn't exactly wood.

The epoxy didn't work. Looks like I have to buy a new block.

Re: Edge Pro problem

I was thinking about ordering one of the tremolo blocks from the floydupgrades site.
Before I do I have some questions that maybe someone might answer.

For Ibanez on that floydupgrade site there are two tremolo blocks to chose from.

Brass Sustain Block for Ibanez Edge and Big Block for Ibanez Pro.

All the different bridge models for Ibanez is confusing to me.

I am pretty sure that the big block is the one that will fit my Edge Pro Bridge but maybe someone can confirm that.

http://floydupgrades.com/index.php?m...roducts_id=204

My next question is. I have the tremol-no in my guitar. http://www.tremol-no.com/
If I buy the big block will the tremol-no still fit?
