Edge Pro vs Edge Pro II vs. Edge Pro III

I would imagine the main difference (apart from the obvious visual ones) is the Pro II is built from inferior quality metals. I'm not sure on this, but this is often the problem with the cheaper trems, the metal is too soft to stand up to many years of use. My opinion: cheap things = false economy.

You should probably be able to replace an Edge III with an Edge Pro.

albee1952, you say you swapped an Edge Pro II with an Edge Pro with no mods, and it worked? That's awesome!! But I have a question; did you install the new inserts and the locking studs as well? I have an RGT42DXFM and it could use better knife edges and the locking stud mod for sure. I mean, the Edge Pro II stays in tune OK, but not like an Edge/Edge Pro/Edge Lo Pro with the locking studs. And yes, the Edge Pro II is definately a very stiff trem. When you take the trem off, gettin' those springs reinstalled is a bitch! Stiff as hell! I would say they are definately on Viagra. The springs on my Edge are much nicer, but then again their 21 years old too.
