Edge Pro vs Edge Pro II vs. Edge Pro III

Hey guys - I tried to search for a thread that compared these bridges, but the search function would not recognize the words "pro" or "2" as they were too short. And there were like 500 threads that included the word "Edge". Anyway if you could point me in the right direction that would be fantastic. Really all I want is a double locking trem that will stay in tune - I dont think Ill use it that much. Ive heard the Edge III is pretty bad, but how is the Edge II? I played an RGT42DX and loved it - neck thru, mahogany body, but wasnt sure about the bridge . . . .

the rgt42 has an edge pro II

The edge pro is the best out of the three.

the edge 3 can be replaced buy the edge 3 i think, so thats good
zr is the best.. hah. I also tried original edge which is pretty good and feels more solid too, edge pro i would say is the best, or else it wouldnt be on the higher end guitars

Yeah I figured the Edge Pro is the best, but how much worse is the Edge II?

Edge Pro II is a pretty decent tremolo, I have a RGT42. Better than most of the typical liscenced F.R. tremolos IMO.

It is a hella lot stiffer and not nearly as smooth as the Edge Pro

Re: Edge Pro vs Edge Pro II vs. Edge Pro III

i always wonder that... does the edge pro II is good?
i mean ibz did switch the trs trems for ibz trems now and they should be good... and better than most licensed tremolos... but how does it stand against the edge pro... they´re kind of similar with visual difference that the edge pro has those chips on it and is longer and heavier... jajaja maybe those are the differences... jaja

Re: Edge Pro vs Edge Pro II vs. Edge Pro III

Only diffeence I saw is the Edge Pro has the stainless steel saddle insert which(in theory) may give better sustain. I had an RGT42FM that came with the Edge Pro II and I dropped in an Edge Pro with no mods and no problems at all.

Re: Edge Pro vs Edge Pro II vs. Edge Pro III

The "stiffness" issue totally depends on the number and elasticity of the springs in the floyd rose system. Put two "soft" springs in an edge pro II and it's like a friggin' JEM (okay, exaggerating, but prrrreeeeeettttyyyy close). I know cause I've done this myself, and I haven't noticed ANY difference between the Edge and Edge Pro II. Plus, it's a lot cheaper, and IMHO, beats the hell out of some original floyd rose "stiffies" systems.
