Epi Zakk Wylde
Hey guys.
I have an epiphone zakk wylde les paul in the buzzsaw finish and while i love the guitar's playability, i hate the finish.
I was wondering if it would be possible to
refinish
the guitar in something a little less subtle.?
Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers.
Pat.

Re: Epi Zakk Wylde
its doable pat but if you havnt painted aguitar b4 then i would get a piece of crap of the baayy and pimp it mate that way you wont write your epiphone off, its also a bitch to try doing a 1 piece as aposed to a bolt on neck and getting that clear off will be a nightmare, like days of sanding if you do it properly. Best of luck mate, remember to wear protection on this job and any other job for that matter, its way easier to get poly and PU into your lungs than it is to get it out

Re: Epi Zakk Wylde
It's worth more now to sell than after you ruin it in a failed attempt. If yo don't like it. bay it and get something you like. Simple and done.

Re: Epi Zakk Wylde
Thanks for all the help guys. I'm in a bit of a dilemma with the guitar. I absolutely love the way it plays. The combination of maple neck with the classic les paul body is an idea that I absolutely love. The only thing i dislike is the finish. I have been told that the finish is a sticker with a clear coat over it. Is this true?
Cheers
Pat

Why did you buy the guitar in the first place if you didn't like the finish?????

Re: Epi Zakk Wylde
I bought the guitar because of the playability and sound. I'd like to keep those and get rid of any Zakk connotation. It's his paintjob not mine.

Re: Epi Zakk Wylde
of course it's possible. What does a solid black
paint
job cost these days anyways? $100? go for it!

Re: Epi Zakk Wylde
I guess that's the hard part. To get a Maple neck/fretboard Les Paul you have to get a Zakk Wylde one. I can understand why you would want to refinish over getting a different guitar. There aren't any other Les Pauls with maple neck as far as I'm aware.
Definitely if you want to refinish it go with a professional. You wouldn't want to ruin the guitar doing it yourself.

Agile makes les pauls with maple neck in many finishes.Just don't ask me about their quality, because I've never played one.
