EVH De-tuna
Hey there, i am having a guitar of mine fixed at a local luthier i trust. apart from the new chrome Edge Pro with locking stud mod and arming adjuster fitted i was thinking of adding the EVH de-tuna. does anyone have any experience with this, how reliable it is and where i might be able to buy one?

Re: EVH De-tuna
I don't think the Edge Pro can accept a D-Tuna. The Original Edge will, however.

Yeah, the D-tuna does not work with low-profile trems. Works perfectly with regular ones though(OFR, Gotoh, Orig Edge).

Re: EVH De-tuna
Keep in mind though that even with an Original Edge, you'll want a non-recessed trem since a) the D-Tuna probably won't fit the cavity and b) switching the tension on one string will throw the others slightly out of tune on a fully floating bridge.

Yep- in my experience, the D-Tuna is not suitable for floating trems. Works great for Ed as his Floyds don't float. But for the rest of us, changing the tension on the low E will throw all the others off.

Re: EVH De-tuna
Simple solution though if your trem is floating is to block it so it is dive only.
You can do this as cheaply as chucking a bit of wood or some coins taped up to size, etc, or get yourself a Tremol-no. I've got a Tremol-no with my EVH D-Tuna, and it works great when the Tremol-no is in dive only mode.
And yeah, your Edge Pro will not be able to accommodate an EVH D-Tuna. You can only use standard profile type double locking trems like an OFR, Shaller, Gotoh, original Edge, etc.

So i guess it doesn't work on a Lo-TRS-II either? Too bad...

Re: EVH De-tuna
Nope.
I used to use the fine tuners -- I set it up with the low E fine tuner having enough room to drop to D. Then it would just be some minor fine tuner adjustments to get the rest of the strings in tune. No more than a minute to do either way.
