finish stripping question

has anyone ever used a DA (dual action?) pad on an orbital sander to strip the finish off a guitar, the only experience I've had with them is on my '42 chevy when I stripped about 5 layers of primer off it and it worked great so if anyone has ever tried them what were the results?

I would be a bit worried about that unless you have complete control with it you could take away some wood, which of course is much more softer than steel............

Im actually using an orbital sander with regular paper and its UBERSLOW. the paint and all isnt bad, but the first layer of paint (black? looks like a primer) and the sealer, are hard as nails and it takes forever to get through em!

yea I might dump half a gallon of paint on a piece of wood and see how fast it goes through it lol, but the orbital sander sounds pretty painful so I dunno, all I know is theres a huge score in the finish of my guitar and it needs to go away.

I just stripped an Ibanez and those finishes are thick!

I used chemical stripper on most of the body then hand sanded the leftovers.
