Fixing screw holes - Will regular elmers work?

I think the title and topic description are enough. I want to know if regular elmers white glue (school glue) and toothpicks cut it in repairing screw holes for the control cavity, trem cavity, and strap button screws.

Fixing screw holes

i would just use 5-minute EPOXY. It's clear, won't leave *a mess and further damage the soft basswood as toothpicks could. Use sparingly and a toothpick to fill the hole just slightly. If you overfill you will have to re-drill the hole, but again this is permanent... glen

But if you do go with the toothpick method use a yellow wood glue. Elmer's white will work but it is also a weak glue compaired to those made specifically for wood on wood situations.
