Floyd Block Wont Budge :(

I have had my OFR for about a year. It was fine up until recently when both the G and B string blocks dont move at all. I thought it was corroded so I bought some WD-40 and sprayed at the areas, no dice. If I could just get the blocks out, I could clean them. Anyone have any ideas on how to get the blocks out?

Have you been able to take the strings off? I would say try using a paper clip and bend the tip of it with some pliers and insert it in the hole to try to get the block off.

I hope that helps.

I am able to take off the strings.....with a lot of force. Could you elaborate more on your paper clip method?

Liquid wrench works better for me, and if you have a toothbrush with long bristles you can kind of get in there and clean the mess up sometimes to get it working loose. Ive had to soak several original floyd saddles, and schallers overnight to get them to come out. Best thing to do with an original floyd is regularly clean these parts with oil in a similar fashion to gun parts *in my opinion at least*. Others might find some problems with this but i find it keeps pitting and corrosion down to a minimum. Obviously keep oil away from the wood of your guitar, and plastic parts as much as possible.

When you say "blocks" do you mean the saddle(s) or the little black blocks that grip the string? Because if you can take the saddles off you can really spray them down with WD w/o getting it all over the guitar.

If it's the string holder blocks that are stuck you can take out the long bolt that pushes the block tight and stick something thin in the hole and pry up to move that little thing. Then if you can get a bit of the block to stick out the top, grab it with a plyers and wiggle it out.

Try removing a saddle from the baseplate. Maybe you can push it out from underneath?
