Floyd rose string buzz, HELP!

Hi good people!

I have a problem with my Jackson SL2H-MAH. The guitar is freaking amazing and sounds great, but the high e-string buzzes like hell when played open (like a sitar, or worse). This bugs me a lot as it is a great guitar otherwise. I raised the nut and almost all the buzz dissapeared, but the playability wasnīt the same. I figured the nut was the problem, so I bought myself a new identical: No change, same old buzz. I have lots of other guitars with different kind of floyds, and have no problem with them. Is it possible that the string saddles can be the problem? Also the b-string seems to ring out a little less than it should.

What should I do? Anyone experienced the same thing? The guitar is all original, and itīs an original floyd ofc

Do you need to raise the saddles for the B and E perhaps? Make a shim from something like emery paper, it's good for transferring the tone from the saddle through the baseplate of the trem.

Yeah I've seen shims for floyd rose, maybe I should try it and see what happens. Thanks!

Just make them yourself, like I said emery paper is great for shimming things like locking nuts and saddles, necks too, It's cheaper than buying shims I'd think.

Re: Floyd rose string buzz, HELP!

True, but I want the best of the best for my guitar so a true metal shim would probably transfer vibrations the best. I don't have any emery paper in the house so I will try out some aluminum foil (from the kitchen) tomorrow

Thanks again!

If that could solve the problem I wouldn't put up a post here!

I tried to raise the nut, it didn't help. Still haven't tried a shim under the saddle but if that fails too, I'll take it to a professional. Thanks anyway guys!
