Floyd Rose total Newb. Is this normal?

Hello,

I got this Rg 655 to test from GC and I'm deciding whether or not to keep it. A major factor is tuning stability. Some background: I've owned a vintage fender style tremolo guitar before and also returned a Sterling Jp 60 from Music Man because the string would kink and it wouldn't stay out of tune. That guitar ALSO has a floating bridge but with NO locking mechanism so the strings tend to move, even with locking tuners.
Since I'm knew to floating bridges I decided to give the new RG which has the original Edge a try. You can see my original inquiries and feedback here:

After some action adjustments and a little of fretboard love I'm finding the edge is not behaving that much better than the Sterling bridge and am wondering what your experience is with this kind of hardware.

For comparison sake I uploaded some videos where you can see how the tuning of the string "follows" the tremolo. If you dive the strings would stay flat when the tremolo returns to neutral. If you raise the bridge then the strings stay sharp. Sometimes they even return to pitch if you go in both directions.

What I'm left wondering is why is this happening and how come at this point is not much better than the Sterling with no locking.

I had a similar problem with my low pro on my js1000, turns out that the knife edges just needed lubing up, if they are dry they wont always return to the zero position. give the trem posts a 1/4 turn (cant remember which direction i did it) then lube the recess in the trem posts with a chapstick (i used vaseline) then turn the trem posts 1/4 turn back to where they were. This solved the problem straight away. Now i rarely have to tune the strings, In fact things are so good with the tuning that i forget to check the tuning when i gigged last friday, checked at half time though and it was perfectly in tune.

^^^^^ This.

Usually minor tuning stability issues like you are experiencing are from either the posts and knife edges needing some lube or they've gotten a little build up of gunk on them. A quick wipe and a bit of chapstick for lube should do the trick.

alright but lubing helps collecting dirt, so it kinda defeats the purpose? just asking..
