Floyd Rose tremolo and nut widths? help
I am buying a replacement for my
floyd rose
in my guitar. I measure the nut width of my guitar to be
1.44 inch.. so should i buy a floyd rose with a nut width of
1) 1 5/8"
2) 1 11/16"
3) 1 9/16"
which one is going to fit in my guitar?

Re: Floyd Rose tremolo and nut widths? help
None of them will fit. I suggest you measure again as 1.44" is less than and inch and a half which makes me think you did not measure right as I have never seen a 6 string neck that narrow. If you are buying an American measured nut, measure the neck with a ruler so you don't need to convert. BTW, 1 5/8"=42mm and 1 11/16"=43mm. These are the 2 most common nut sizes.

The most common is 43mm or R2 on the nut side.

Re: Floyd Rose tremolo and nut widths? help
Well, R2 is actually a 42mm or inch and 5/8ths. 43mm is equal to original Floyd Rose R3 or R4 (same overall width but different string spacing for bound and unbound fretboards).

ok my mistake its 43mm R3, because originally its a floyd so string spacing should not be a problem if you choose the correct 1. its not like his changing a
ibanez trem
to a floyd.

If you swap the bridge, do you have to change the nut if you go from an Ibanez bridge to an OFR bridge?

I just did this the other weekend to a PWH. No, you don't. I kind of wanted to, since it was a chrome bridge on a guitar with a black nut, but the alignment was a little funky so I left the original on. It's worked like a charm so far.
