Fret Buzz problem, lower 3 strings only.

Hi all,

ive started to notice quite badly a fret buzz problem ive got on my RG3120, and i'm not sure how to fix it.

its only on the low E, A and D strings, and only on the bottom 5 frets of each string.
ive tried raising the bridge to no avail as that just made the action further up the neck unbearable by the time it was high enough to remove the buzz down to 4th fret!

is there anything more i can personally do? or would i be best to just take it into a fixers?

Cheers

Matt

You could try to loosen the truss rod some and add some bow to the neck. Check the tech section.

i cant get access to the truss rod nut without taking all of the strings off... or at least the middle two. is it best to do this with the strings on or off?

sure you can....

I used a deep reach socket with and extension bar a ratchet handle to adjust mine.
you need to adjust the neck while its under its load from the strings anyway so removing strings would be a no-go.

when you make your adjustment give it twenty minutes of playing to let the neck relax into its new position before making another change.

you're right, i just need to get a new very narrow walled socket! its only cause the walls are too thick on my current 7mm socket that it wont fit past the strings haha. doubt it'll even fit inside the gap around the rod!

tomorrow ive gotta hunt for a narrow walled one then

Exactly, I have a set that I use for work.
a normal socket is too wide. good luck with the hunt.
