Frets 9 10 & 11 on the maple fretboard of my UVGR are looking dirty and have lost their clearcoating, but only in that area (must play too many blues songs in E).
The rest of the board still has it's clearcoat.

I currently am using a dab(very small amount) of lemon oil all over the board once a month and am also using Endust.
How do I get it all looking good?

Should now just sand and steel wool the rest of the clearcoat off?

Or i there something that can make that area look better and less dark, more even?

Robbie

PS i know we've discussed this before, but I have clearcoat everywhere but on those three frets.. *a little switch from one way or the other.

Hows about you take a little lighter fluid and clean up that area. Then mask off the frets with a little masking tape and spray a fresh coat of clear on those three parts of the finger board?

Sounds easy enough to me anyway.........

That is really up to the end user.

If you want to go all out get the clear laquer and after it has dried for a minimum of 3-4 days, you can polish it to a fine looking original finish.

It is all up to how much time and trouble you want to put into it.
