Fun with Refinishing

So, I started working on my first refinish almost 2 years ago I guess. I've now almost finished 3 RGs so I thought it was time to post some photos.

The first one is the 89 RG550 that was Pink Salmon (aka butt ugly). I replaced the pickups, pots, jack, switch, did a refret on it, sanded the neck to a satin finish and took out some of the roughness from a previous owner who wore rings... and then repainted.

The second guitar is an RG7420 I believe that had a thin chipped red paint that was a bit... well, boring. I routed out a single coil, replaced all the pickups, and then did a burned/satin finish. It isn't really my thing, but my husband loves it.

And the current project is an RG760 that some twit tried to stain with a really thin, watery stain and then never protected it beyond that. Every piece of metal aside from the Edge trem was rusted, the pickups were put in by a 5 year old with cheap solder, and no one ever figured out how to wire anything. It is still a work in progress, but the paintjob is nearly finished. Once that is done, we're gonna put some DiMarzios in it and get it up and running. The design was a take on a pair of my husband's Vision Street Wear shoes... a little funky and fun. With all black hardware and pickups it'll look sweet.

I may be refinishing a V for a friend... I have no idea how to make it look cool because fundamentally I think they look silly. Any suggestions?

Well you can always go the Michael Schenker paint scheme for the V with on half white and the other black, like the first one you have here.

What type of paint did you use and what clear coat? I'm thinking of refinishing a guitar or two. Could you tell me the brands of paint and clear coat too? Thanks.
