as in "real gold" ? I would think that real gold, along with being extremely expensive, would also be extremely soft and short-lived.

The reason steel is used mostly is because it is damned hard.

For the reason Ibateur says it would have to be gold colour plated steel that would probably wear off in use - so will probably end up looking pretty crappy.

It would look nice on something like the gold RG that was posted a week or so ago or maybe against a solid black guitar with gold hardware.

I think he means gold colored frets. http://www.warmoth.com/guitar/necks/...=fretsize#gold

I have no experience with them BTW. Although they say the color is solid through so at least the color wont wear off.
