Gotoh strap locks - Installation instructions?

I recently picked up a J-Custom while in Japan, and it's got Gotoh strap locks, but didn't come with any instructios for them. *I have a pin, two washers, and a C-shaped metal piece. *I assume I put a washer on the pin, then the strap, then another washer, and then slide the metal piece on the end, right? *My question is, should the metal piece snap all the way down around the pin? *It seems like I'd have to use an awful lot of force to make that happen, and it would probably be darn near impossible to get it back off if I wanted to change the strap. *Thanks in advance!

Gotoh strap locks

The Gotoh locks on my Prestige came with a nut, not a clip, so I'm not sure on this one. *Are you saying the strap-lock pin itself doesn't have any threads on it?

Gotoh strap locks

Yes, that's right, the pin isn't threaded. *It does have a little slot for the clip though. *I guess I just have to force the clip on there, and make sure I really like the strap! *Kinda weird though, wonder why they're different...

Thanks!

Gotoh strap locks

Kuma....what you have is the Jim Dunlop strap lock system. They have a cupped washer that goes on the outside of the strap, the locking pin that goes through the strap and a flat washer that goes on the back of the strap. There is a slot in the locking pin that the "C" clip snaps into and holds the assembly together. It is pretty easy to remove if/when you need to change straps.
