Graphtech Stringsavers-I tried a set on my JS-6

Well, I finally got the correct size of Graphtech Stringsaver Saddles for
my JS-6. It was originally an impulse buy at Sam Ash Music. I was looking
for chome dome volume knobs and I'm like, huh, those saddles look cool.

The first set I got were too wide (by .04 inches!), so I was going to
return them when I realized behind the set I bought was another set
made for "Import Bridges".

In the mean time, I've had a chance to read up on the Graphtech web
page:

http://www.graphtech.bc.ca

They say improves string life, killer tone, monkeys fly out of your butt, bla
bla bla bla bla. Yeah right.

Well, I had already put a fresh set of strings on when I attempted to put
the first set of saddles on my guitar, only to find they wouldn't fit. So I
was forced to put the old saddles back on, which I used untill I got the
correct sized saddles.

So I'm worried that this half used set of strings, that were broken in on
the old steel saddles would effect my opinion of the new Graphtech
saddles...but I'm out of strings so.... Ok, here goes...used strings, new
saddles...adjust string heigh/action tune this bitch up.
Lets see how they sound...

HOLY CRAP!

I've not even plugged in the guitar yet, and I can ear it audibly rings out
more true, and MUCH more evenly. I mean, this is a JS-6, it's body is
pretty loud (acoustically) as it is, but now it's like, loud across the whole
six strings, and all up and down the fretboard!

How the hell did they do that?

So I plug it in...DAMN! I'm not sure if that's more sustain then before,
but DAMN all the tones ring true and wide and LOUD! Evenly across the
fretboard! Chords sound even now, I don't have to be lighter on the
higher strings so they don't overbear the wound strings...

I just keep going DAMN!

Oh, and I just realized, I've not even intonated the guitar yet! LOL
I can't wait to get this one polished off. This has turned an already
very warm and sustainfull guitar into a more balanced instrument of
music! This is definitly my all the time rhythm guitar now!

I think I'm going to order a set for my fixed bridge 7 string next!

Just thought I'd share with you guys! It takes a lot to impress me, and
DAMN is all I can say!

Sounds great!
How much did the 6-string set cost, if i may ask? Any idea how much it would be for a 7-string set?
Thanks,

I've had the GraphTech saddles on all (3) of my JS6's, including the current one. They definitely bring out the best in a fixed-bridge or Strat-type guitar! I've got them on my Strat as well. Great add-on items!

I think you can order the saddles directly from the graphtech web page.
I got mine for about $5 cheaper from Sam Ash, plus I didn't have to pay
shipping. Unfortunatly Sam Ash doesn't have any 7 String Sets, so I'll
probably have to special order them. Honestly, it looks like the Import
Set that I got had been sitting on a shelf forver.

I'm considering trying one of the FAAS (Fat Ass Acoustic Sound)
saddles with the preamp and stuff. I'm just not sure I want to do any
cutting on a JS-6 for this. And I'm doubly not sure I want to put a Peizo
Pickup bridge on a 7 String (my only two fixed bridge guitars).

And nuno, hehe, no I don't work for them. I was just truely blown away
by the change in my tone on the JS. Well, no, I shouldn't say a change,
cause it didn't change the tone, it just evened it out. And that say wonders
for well recorded music!

If I don't blow my next paycheck on a digital camera or a new amp,
I think I'm going to try a 7 String Set or maybe talk myself into a Piezo
setup...I don't know just yet.

I'm seriously considering putting the F.A.A.S. in my Dean Evo 7, now that i've heard preliminary reports on it.

I'll probably have to wait a couple of months, but i really miss having access to the piezo sound.

whoa... I gotta get these things! (j/k)

anyway, I'll probably consider them... $10 is okay, but for a tune-o-matic (like I have), $27's pushing it. Maybe sometime in the future...

I'm made up my mind to get a 7 string set for my 7621 next paycheck.
I don't think I'm going to need a Piezo setup on a 7 string. Maybe on my
JS-6 if I can figure out how to do it without cutting up the guitar...or
if *someone* would finish the model for making me JS body in mohagany,
I could build a JS-6 with FAAS from scratch!

Is it too hard to go to the link I've provided at the top of the page and
look for yourself?

Can the graphite take the stress of the floyd? Im not sure, plus it would look like pooh compared to the powder coat finishes

The color of the saddles is an oily black. It's darker then plane graphite,
but it's not completely black.

I'm not sure it would look too bad unless you had a gold trem! LOL

It suits my JS-6 perfectly. It's about the same color black as the bobbins
on the pickups, so it just continues the color scheme.

Just put a set of them on my PGM90.

In order to listen to the changes in tone, I didn't put on a new set of strings.

I'm used to play my pgm unplugged at night, so I really remember how it sound acoustically.
After changing the saddles, I notice the guitar sounds a bit mellower and fuller. As I always feel that the PGM90 sounds a bit too bright, I'm happy with these changes. However, I seem to like sound of the low e and a with my old saddles, as they sound clearer .......

I'm going to put on a new set of string to try it again tomorrow
Maybe I would put back the old saddles to compare again.....
