So...I was contemplating last night why even after I've spent a herd of cash on a UV777BK which sounds like my dream Jem, plays like my dream Jem and almost looks exactly like my dream Jem why I still had the Jones for a Jem....
"Is it the vines" I asked myself. Not really...I actually really dig the pyramids and would want something different than the style of the UV777BK if I had to choose vines.
"Is it the
pearloid pickguard" I queried. Well, not really....I like the chrome look to it and it's good fun to blind other folks in the band when they're being annoying with it.
"Then what is it" I wondered....
It's that stupid handle....for as long as I've railed on how really needless it is it's the one thing that I didn't get in choosing the UV777BK over a 6 string that I now finding myself wanting.
So....the inevitable question is can a
monkey grip be safely made into a UV777BK body? I'll fully admit that I don't have the tools, chops or stomach to do this and additionaly I'd much rather have a professional refinish it than risk mangling the binding in some over-spraying accident.
Do any of the wonderful folks with the banners above perform this service? The UV777BKs body has a few dings but nothing major that would involve reshaping or sculpting and seems like a good candidate for a new paint job to restore it to its former glory as well as make it the guitar I've come to obsess over.
