Hardtail Jem

Hi all,
I'm putting together a "hardtail" mahogany Jem (friend doing all the machining...phew!!!)
At the mo' I have 2 slabs of mahogany that I need to glue together before I take them over to him.

Can anyone recommend the best glue/bonding agent for this?

Thanks
Steve

Titebond I or II

As an option you can bake the wood clamped together after you glue it for about 8 hours at 125 F and this will increase the strenght of the bond even more...

This stuff is much better than any standard wood glue on the market.....

Yeah sure.
I'll be doing a whole article on it, pictures and commentary.

The body's being cut "hopefully" at the end of this month, so the first installment ain't too far away

Cheers

I'd like to see a step-by-step picture site done on this from raw wood to finished product. *Do you have time for something like this? *Is that what you have planned in your article? *This would be great material for Universaljems.com. *Good info to have documented...

Hi Gabe,
Yeah that's the plan.
I'll document each process including the machining in picture and text format from Raw materials to completed guitar ie. machining, routing, filling, sanding, paint processes, neck construction, fretboard, inlays, hardware etc...then finish off with a players report and some sound samples.
Should hopefully make for an interesting read, and a hella' stressfull time for myself *

Cheers

Steve

P.S. Although orginally a hardtail was in mind that may well change to something along the lines of a Wilkinson VS100G.
I'd like to have some whammy control, but I can just see the full floyd option being a major pain in the a**, plus I don't think I'll be able to afford one

Ok,
Part 1/2 is up (not part 1 yet as I ain't got that far yet)

http://www.guitarkarma.freeuk.com/ (just click on "Projects" )

This is the only part of the site that is functional yet as It's brand new.

This weekend and Monday/Tues (I have the day's off work) I'll be glueing and cutting/shaping the body. I'll update shortly after with body routing scheduled for the following weekend.

Thanks
Steve
