Hardtail Problem

Hey i changed the strings on my friends hardtail Ibanez and the bridge just kinda popped out from its cavity. I took some pictures of that:

How do i fix that? Should i adjust the neck angle or what?

Re: Hardtail Problem

Thats not a hardtail. Thats a trem if I've ever seen one.

Re: Hardtail Problem

It almost looks like the studs have pulled up out of the body. If that is the case then take it to a pro to fix if it can be fixed. If not just screw the studs down. Make sure the knife edges are properly seated etc.

Re: Hardtail Problem

Right now it has only 2 springs on the back, might that be the problem?

Re: Hardtail Problem

Do you know if you went up a gauge or two from the original strings? That would explain why the bridge is pulling up.

The studs look fine to me.

How many springs are in the back? If he's not using trem, you can either put 5 springs in and rebalance the bridge or just block off the bridge's sustain block in the front and rear.

Re: Hardtail Problem

It can be a hardtail or a trem, not both. Clearly it's a trem and the string that were put on were too heavy. Easiest fix is to replace the strings with the original gauge, otherwise add a spring or try tightening the claw.

Re: Hardtail Problem

Put the springs in a straight configuration as opposed to an arrow config. Also, for future reference, there isn't a hardtail tremolo. You either have a hardtail (a guitar with a fixed bridge that doesn't move) or you have one with a tremolo. Whether it's a fulcrum style or a floyd, it's still a tremolo.
