has anybody converted a strat body to aanj?

I wanna build a wizard II frankenstrat. I'm thinking of cutting a new neck pocket (closer to the trem) and cutting the horns like a RG... but it will lose it's stratness... so has anybody done this without making the strat loose it's stratness? I was also thinking of moving the trem closer to the neck pocket, but then i'd have to partially fill in the first pickup hole (not cool). I'm using a regular ash HSS 21/22 fret strat body.

Nothing is impossible.

However if you change the relationship between the neck pocket and the bridge you will change the scale length of the guitar, and it wont play correctly. You would need to move the neck pocket back if you were putting a neck with more frets on.

If you don't know exactly what you are doing, then steer clear of messing around with the scale length.

As far as cutting horns, I suspect that it will look a bit odd. My suggestion would be to photoshop a picture and see what it looks like. Or you could trace the current body outline onto some paper and then re-draw and cut out the body patternyou were going to use and see what you think.

I have converted a regular 4-bolt strat block heel to something similar to Fender's Jeff Beck heel, where the corner of the block is rounded out. That is a relatively safe thing to do and really improves upper fret access, though not as good as an AANJ.

I agree with nickcoumbe -- Your comments about making a new heel closer to the trem and moving the trem closer to the neck suggest that you don't understand the basic rules about scale length. You can't move either of those around without altering the scale length (nut to saddles = 25-1/2" on a strat) and wrecking the guitar.
