Headstock logo template help!!!

I am painting a headstock and I have already sanded, primed, base coated, and second color coated the headstock. I have found useful resoursces on the whole process, except that i am going to apply a self-made stencil for the logo, which will be painted on. I didnt see anything for that, only vinyls.

My quesions are:

-Do i paint the logo right over the main color, or do i have to clearcoat the base first before i apply the logo?

-Also, i know the logo is not going to be perfect after its painted, whats a good way of touching it up? Or better yet how can i make the template cleaner?

Why go through all that when you can just clear over the vinyl logo?

Why, because i'm going to use the old gold block logo to exact spec, and i rather paint it thats all.

ohh bad memories painting headstocks....I would say paint the logo on the headstock then clearcoat it. maybe a couple layers of clearcoat. I tryed to do this crap and ended up wasting 60 dollars worth of automotive paint and selling the guitar for next to nothing.

Well thanks for the insight guys, heres an update and picture:



I painted the logo on, tried to make it to exact size and color. Came out pretty close but not perfect, and I painted on binding cuz i'm a sucker for it
