Hi,can someone please advise a non-techhead here?

I've just changed my pickguard on my RG550, from plain to mirrored.
But since re-assembling it. I have a few issues.

1) I find the pickup switch a lot stiffer to use, is there a way of fiely widening the slot for this?

2) The worst part though, is when I re-stringed the G and D strings don't produce a clean sound on the 22 fret. I can't really explain it but it's just not a clean note.
Is this just a case of the strings not being tight enough? All notes are fine except these 2.

If you've got a small file you can probably just carefully file out the slit on the pickguard.

Thanks, just had my switch too high up, all sorted now, except the sound on those 2 notes.
