Help, Major overhaul needed!

My poor old 77Fp is in some need of repairs... All the parts are original and considering it's a 13 year old guitar it's not surprising they're wearing out!!!

1) Needs a new Trem and locking nuts. The original edge has been worn to bits, the arm doesn't fit properly anymore and it struggles to hold tune. The locking nut has worn so much that the open strings have bugun to buzz. Should I just get a new Lo-Pro or wait for this new Edge trem? Anyone know when It's out?

2) Needs new pickups. The original PAF's are no longer on a par with each other for output and the neck P/U feeds back annoyingly above certain volumes, And not the nice kind either!!! I want to replace these pink ones with Green pickups too but I'll need to replace the Vol/Tone knobs and the P/U selector to match. I heard that DiMarzio no longer do the different coloured knobs and P/U selecor though....any help? And what P/U's could you recomend? Evo's? Breeds? Tone Zone? Fred? Humbucker from Hell? or should I just stick with the PAF's?

3) Needs new tuning pegs. The B string peg has a snapped tooth so when you tune up it pings back every turn... It holds tune if you're nowhere near the missing tooth in the rotation but just the same, They're F***ed.

Any advice would be apprieciated, as would any help in finding U.K distributors for these parts.... I suppose I'm a little thick on that front!!!!

Have a good New Year you Crazy Cats

Man I'd love to see a pic of your FP. I love when guitars look played! Anyway the trem is your call Lo Pro, or Edge? To me it doesn't really matter, but considering your FP came with an Edge originally I'd keep it original! If you shop around Ebay you can find a used one, and I know Rich probably has some in stock, but maybe only brand new so that will drive the price up(plus I think the brand new ones he has come in a set ie: trem, locking nut, and trem bar). Correct me if I'm wrong Rich

Another recommendation I have is if you have a Dimarzio dealer anywhere nearby just have them order a new set of pups for you. If it's to difficult to find anyone, then try finding some used in your area. Then if that doesn't work try Brian at Universal Jems. Which model pup of course is your decision. If your happy with Pafs then keep them, or maybe you could trying mixing the Paf with an Evo or Breed. Either way I don't think you'd be dissapointed with whichever model you choose. Get in touch with Brian also about the knobs, and pickup selector switch. I think he can help you with that as well.

Is the hardware on your FP cosmo black? If so, and you plan on keep it that way I have a practically new set of cosmo black Gotoh tuners which should fit your FP with no problem. I don't need them so if your interested maybe we could work something out.

Good luck, and post a pic if you can

Just a quick addition, Regarding the new trem my guitar needs... what I wanted to know was is it whether it's worth waithing for the 'New' Edge trem or just get an old Lo-Pro in the hope that they are cheaper becasuse of the 'New' one being released?

And if I get the New Edge, do any of you know whether it will retrofit into a guitar using the 'Original' Edge?

Cheerz
