Help! Need a new bridge for my IC400
So, the last three sets of strings I've had on my Iceman, I've broken the high E within a few days. The ball end of the string always snaps right off at the tailpiece, and it's beginning to really piss me off.
Anywho, to the point;
Will my Iceman accept a Gibson bridge? If so, I'll be getting one of the Leo Quan's.
Thanks

Dont replace the bridge, it probably just needs to be filed, and a Gibson one probably wont work. Im betting Ibanez uses metric pieces and I know Gibson doesn't.
If you absolutely have to replace it, check out Tone Pros

Well, it's not really the bridge that needs replacing, but more the tailpiece. I should have been more specific.
Anyways, I was afraid that they'd use different measurements.
Would a regular stopbar style replacement from Ibanez work? I've been wanting to use the
Jimmy Page
stringing method to try and squeeze a little extra sustain out of it, but haven't been able to because the IC's stock bridge has those slots in the top.
Thanks 'cid.

So its the stop bar?
It still may have a burr where the string is comming out. Is the Jimmy Page method the same as
Zakk Wylde
where you are going over the stop bar?
Im not sure what the bridge on the IC400 is like, but Im sure someone makes a replacement.

Yeah, it's the stopbar.
I just looked at the stopbar, and the part where the ball end sits is marred like crazy.
Yeah, the JP/ZW method is the one I'm talking about. Like this;
The bridge on the IC400 is pretty much just a regular TOM/Stopbar combo, as far as I can tell. But I'm not sure.
Thanks again

Id take it to see if it could get filed first, otherwise a replacement shouldnt be hard to find. Measure the distance between the studs and string holes just to be sure andorder it, or talk to whoever looks at it and he should know what you need.

Re: Help! Need a new bridge for my IC400
Alright, I'll go have it looked at real quick on Wed., and if it matches up with a regular tailpiece, I'll probably end up replacing it.
Thanks for the help, 'cid.

Re: Help! Need a new bridge for my IC400
I hope I can explain this without pics....
The "shelf" in the stop piece that the ball end of the string rest against just needs rounding over. If it is too sharp, then it cuts the part of the string that wraps around the ball end. I have seen my tech use a Dremel bit to bevel the edges.

Re: Help! Need a new bridge for my IC400
Okay, I finally got a new bridge (a wraparound). I was wondering; can I install it on the rear studs? I really don't feel like filling the old post-holes and drilling new ones, but I will if I have to.
Like this;
I was thinking that I probably can't, but it can't hurt to ask.
Thanks!

That's what I was thinking.
I guess I'll have to bite the bullet and drill new postholes.
