Thumbs up

Here is how to setup a Strat trem.

Lately my Strat had not been staying in tune as well as it used to when using the trem. I then realized that my trem angle was not as high as it once was. I went back to this video (which is how I setup my Strat when I first got it) and presto! Once again I can go to town on the vintage style trem and it stays in tune.
Anyway this is how it's done.

Watch the video "Strat set-up 1.01" near the bottom of the page.

*This may have been posted here before. I got this link from somewhere (maybe here) a long time ago. Anyway check out his other vids on that page too. He's an amazing player.

also yesterday when i was changing strings I was thinking of the trem claw thing he was saying I was like hmm I wonder if I screw the claw crooked it would compensate for the tensions, kinda weird this thread was started so close to when i was thinking about it

Grab "real media alternative" it's handy for playing real media files and not having to install all that real media player BS.

this conflicts like every other setup i've ever heard of telling you to keep the string plate straight

Re: Here is how to setup a Strat trem.

also you don't stay perfectly in tune, unless you return the trem to neutral every time manually. Your trem angle is definately messed up when you're trem is sagging forward, But i'm about to overtension my springs cuz when my Edge III is at proper angle, there's barely any room to dive. And after a seemingly short dive the string loses contact with the saddle and i lose all sound.

No it actually stays in tune very well. Try it.

This is for a Strat style trem, not a Floyd.

Indeed. Real Alternative has been on my system for about 5 years.

And get Quicktime Alternative while you're at it.

Re: Here is how to setup a Strat trem.

I have the quicktime version, but not the RA. I guess I should have figured there was an alternative.

Thanks

Re: Here is how to setup a Strat trem.

yea i realized that this is ONLY for strat style, on a double locking trem if you're claw isnt straight you won't stay in tune. I got a buddy with an american strat though, it's got the 2 point synchronized trem, ima do this to it, he cant stay in tune for **** with that bar.

Re: Here is how to setup a Strat trem.

The most important thing is not the angle of the claw but the angle of the bridge. Make sure it's floating high enough off the body so you can pull up the same number of frets as shown in the vid.

Check the height on your saddles. Stew-mac makes a tool that measures the radius of the neck in relation to the saddles on the trem:

http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Fretting...us_Gauges.html

Also, check out this page that tells you the correct height for strat trems:
