you can increase the action on the low e side. For the open g, only "twisted neck" comes to mind, especially given that you only have that one string buzzing.

Someone with more technical knowledge will be able to help, just need some patience.

Throw 1/2 of a .1mm nut shim under the high E side.

Alright... How much do you sell your .1mm nut shim for?

You don't need to mail order a shim, any decent guitar store [or local tech] will have a good supply

I know its been awile, but I never got around to getting the nut shim, but I was reading rich's tech section and i got the impression that the string coould also be buzzing if my neck doesnt have enough relief/bow and frets 7 and below are kind of buzzing. So should I adjust the truss rod before bothering with a nut shim? Thanks!

You should always do a standard set up on your guitar before you go to the trouble of modifying the parts. I mean, you are chaning the height of hte nut if oyu shim it so you shouldn'nt do that if your problem could be fixed with a good set up.

Check Rich's section on what to look for when setting up your guitar.I check my relief like this.First tune your guitar to concert pitch or whtever range you normally play at.Then use your left index finger to hold down the low E string at the first fret. Then, use your right thumb to hold donw the same low E string at hte 12th or 13th fret.

Now look down between the E string and the fretboard/frets to see if there is some space between the string and the frets. If there isn't, oyu have a back bow and must loosen the truss rod by turning it counter clockwise

IF you press the strings like I said and you see room, that is probably good. However, I also use the middle finger of my right hand to push on the low E string at about the 5th or 6th fret.THere should be a slight amount of room to move the string befor it hits the fret.

After you do a good set up, and it still buzzes, then shim it like Rich said.
