How Do I Tighten My Arm?

Hey,

I have a 2550 with a EP. Now the loose arm is getting on my tits a bit. I've tried the plastic bag mod, which works but is very sort term. I've heard something a screw that I could tighten, could some please elaborate?

Also, I was wondering how can I improve the whammy's 'gargle'?

I'm assuming you want the bar to swing less, and not that your arm holder is loose. The best fix I've seen is to run the washers (while on the arm) over an open flame VERY briefly. The heat makes the plastic expand so things are nice and stiff

I tried that but it made like no difference. The bar is slightly tighter, but it's still swinging around like a banshee lol

I'm guessing I put the bushings back on though, right?

Nuno, I never got a chance to ask this but, how long of a strip of teflon tape do you usually cut? I cut a long piece (about an inch and a half) before and the arm simply wouldn't go in. So, then I cut a piece of about 1/4 to 1/2 of an inch, stretched it nicely at the second turn, put the bushings back on and the arm finally went in. The annonying part is that while the trick works nicely, it is not permanent.

my friends/customers usually get back after a couple months to have their arms re-taped. most of them usually play no less than a couple hours every day, with one gig a week, and they use the trem lot
the nice thing is that the bushing would turn around along with the arm, so they wouldn't torque against the teflon tape.

I tried this with a tape called PVET tape, I think it's called that, but it seems to be doing the job.

PTFE tape - it works fine. For a more longer term fix do the usual and check ibanezrules tech section

Yeah I had a look on his site, one of my first port of calls for tech help, but only found info on other trems, mainly Edge/LP.
