How much is a rg550 DY reissue Neck worth

Theres a DY neck on the bay at $200 US it comes with reissue picks strap etc.. I want to buy it for my 1990 rg550 DY

how much is it worth ??

I could be wrong, but I would think that's a fair price, I've heard great things about that neck, but wait for a current 20th owner to chime in.

Well, it's preference, isn't it?

That being said, I absolutely LOVE the neck on mine. Wide and flat, no volute, 5 pc with titanium reinforcing rods means it's not moving. Quality is great, the question is just if you prefer the shape of the original Wizard.

I would think that it was worth it considering the whole axe sold for nine hundred clams.

I'd back that up.

Put it this way, say the guitar is $700 used (which seems to be a GREAT price.)

$200 body
$250 neck
$100 trem
$50 hardware
$100 case + candy

That's being quiet generous I think.

Taking that into account and the fact that the neck is cheaper than $250 I'd say go for it. Just make sure it lines up right if using an older body because I'm not sure that they do

It's well worth 200 bucks. The frets could be slightly better finished but they really are not a problem. But....

That's the problem. The neck pocket is different on the 20th, and the neck doesn't have the fingerboard extension -- it's solid all the way to the end. These necks are not directly interchangeable with an older body. It could probably be made to work if you cut away some of the wood next to the neck pickup.

Generally yeah, a nice condition used one could probably get more than $100. One of these should be able to fetch $150 at least.

As for the neck you would definately have to cut a lot of wood from the body because of what Dee pointed out. I'm sure it wouldn't be too duifficult to do.

So what your saying is that, if I was to buy this neck, it wouldn't be easily swapable with my old 550

thats a shame cause I just want a replacement neck, with a DY headstock. Is that to much to ask !!!

Yes. Look at these pics from my own RG20th. See how the end of the neck doesn't have the overhang, and the body has no wood around the area where the overhang would be.
