How to eliminate hum?

I get huma from my guitar when my left hand doesn't touch the strings. I've had this with my previous guitar also, so I think it's normal. Is there a way to eliminate this? Using some kind of tape to the guitar's interior etc? Or is this problem in my guitar's grounding? Can anything be done?

Nope, that's why there's a ground wire that goes to the bridge.

You're the ground, when you remove your hand from the strings no more ground (well, of course there's ground, but you act as an extra ground).

It's just something we have to live with, and watch your power supplies and amps. If you have any old PA or guitar amps that have only two prong plugs, have them retrofitted with a three prong for safety.

You CAN be electrocuted, or at the least get a hell of a shock when there's a sub-standard ground, or a reversed polarity on the power.
