I have a question about nut cracks

Are older Ibanez necks that weak at the nut? It seems like a common thing on the guitars I see listed that many have this break and/or repair. The first neck I had on my 89 550 broke in that exact way but it was because my girlfriend and I at the time wern't paying attention to our surroundings and we fell on it while it sat on the bed.

Do they really crack like I have seen from normal playing and wammy use?

the cracks happen through the allen bolts that clamp down, and the ones that hold the nut on being over tightened..or the headstock encountering trauma.
easy fix if its not broken off already...just take off the clamps, over tune it a little so the crack can open if its possible...get as much glue into the crack as you can (put a blob on the crack and "swipe" it in with a credit card.
keep doing this every few seconds with the glue till it wont let anymore in..then close the crack with clamps and allow to dry.
that should be a decent fix if your parranoid, but otherwise leave it.its safe!!

certain ibanez necks are thin which would make them weak. depends on how you play and use trem. however I've never had any problems.

yes they do through normal use, but only extended use over many years.
its uncommon without such a prompt as overtightening bolts or headstock trauma..but happens occasionally

Ass cracks are very common. My bet is, everybody has one. Cracks stink.

Nut cracks, are very uncommon. I love how every time you see one being sold it's always described as "common" to try and downplay the issue. Nut cracks devalue, a lot, no matter if they effect tuning and stability or not. But they are quite rare.
