I need help regarding new PUs on my RGA42

Okay, so I'm considering putting at least a new bridge Pickup on my ibanez, but I have never changed a pickup before, so I have a few newbie questions:

My current pickups run off 2 AA batteries (3V total). How would I go about putting passives in my guitar?

Also, how would I put active pickups of a different voltage in there? For example, a 9V pickup like an EMG 81? Is that even possible?

Thanks in advance for any help guys!

All of that is possible, but you'll need to remove some of the stuff in your guitar thats' currently there. Other active pickups run on 9V, so the AA battery gear won't help you. I'm not sure what type of potentiometers are in your guitar either, most actives use 25K for volume and tone, etc.

If you go the passive route you'll most probably need to add a ground wire to your bridge. Actives don't typically need this. Not sure about the stock Ibanez ones.

At any rate the best thing is probably to remove all electronics, bar the output jack, and replace it all with the appropriate active or passive gear. It might seem like a large job for a newbie, but it's pretty easy for most who have had experience with replacing electronics.

And welcome to Jemsite.

Put EMGs in there. 81-85 combo is a killer in the RGA.
