I Need Tube Help - clean tone is distorted

Hey guys I have a fender hot rod devill 4x10 combo. Well even on the clean channle its distorted. I checked the tubes and the power tubes ( both should be 6L6's ) one is and one is not. Could this be why it is distorted on the clean channle? *

I doubt thats the problem, it sounds like its your power tubes all together.
heres a good scope: if you played the amp 10 hours a week for about 1.5 years, its time to change out all the tubes. break the math down from there.
If you bought it used, and dont know the previous owner, and they say the tubes are "newer" I always replace them.

Try the dirty side too and see how muddy the distortion is.

thats what makes sense to me.

I Need Tube Help

I play it allot. but I bought it used and the pre amp tubes are the original fender tubes but the power tubes are old looking Sylania's and one is not a 6l6 it has no marking and its bigger ( and it has one less pin then the other 6l6) when I first got it it sounded fine and the distortion side does sound muddy. I going to buy a matched set of groove tubes to put in it and hope this fixes it. thanks

I am pretty sure it will help, alot!

change the pre amp tubes as well. while their life is a bit longer, but not by much!

if you go to GC or something, DONT pay the ticket price. you can likely get it for 30-40% off that.
