Ibanez Edge Pro

The guys at Ibanez didn't think the edge pro bridge out

I mean its all good when you want a stiff whammy bar as that locks the bar in but for me I need it loose so it doesnt get in the way of my picking hand and nail polishing it up doesnt work for me

So I waited till I wore the bushing a bit and it was perfect

But did you guys ever feel like the whammy bar feels fragile when you do dimebag type squeals from the end of the body

I just keep breaking the whammy bars one after another

The main reason to their flaw is the reason being is that they dont have reinforcements on the point of highest amount of force is exerted

Also the thing is that I noticed is when it broke it was not fully in, I always noticed it wanted to leave the insert after a few dives and usually I have to make sure its all the way in

Shouldn't they design a better system and refund us all for the whammy bars we purchase(bloody hell!! not in this world)?

btw I am pissed off how my floyd rose just doesnt hassle me and the edge pro does a lot and its on my favourite guitar so I may be just ranting

I just want your experience with the edge pro and how many of you play with the whammy bar loose or tight?

I am very particular at everything I nick and pick at everything until its perfect

It may be an OCD but I am sure at least somebody here would have the same problem some high dive and pulls and then snap!!!

I just done some research and they have made the edge zero

I thought is was a ZR trem but its not and it is exactly what I would want on my ibanez

unforunatley its not on the 7 string models

Re: Ibanez Edge Pro

Sounds like you're not pushing in far enough

See the link to my webpage showing how far to push in.......
http://www.cottamguitars.co.uk/index...d=49&Itemid=72

Check the pic at the bottom - this is how far it should be inserted

The arm and whole arm holder assembly on the Edge Pro is EXACTLY the same as it was on the Edge and Lo Pro Edge used since 1987 and i have had one customer out of the hundreds of Lo Pro bars i have sold that has snapped it - due to not pushing in far enough

Re: Ibanez Edge Pro

Oh it's possible to break the bars with them totally pushed in. I've done it twice, both times fully inserted.

Damn it boggles the mind how flimsy they are last time

I am pretty sure on my ibanez that I at least got 5 new bars for itover the past 7 months

Re: Ibanez Edge Pro

is the edge pro bar different from a edge or lo-pro bar? i haven't broken a single bar in 15 years; i lose them quite a bit but i've yet to snap one.

the ep or e3 equipped guitars i have all got the trems swapped out for the older ones more or less as soon as i got them so i have very little experience with the newer designs.

edge, lo pro, edge pro use the same bar the rest are different

I dont understand why the low end Edge III has a torgue adjuster and the higher end edge pro doesnt as that would stop the bar from wobbling

Re: Ibanez Edge Pro

The first thing you should have checked is that the spring is aligned in it's spot, it's difficult for any bar to walk vertically with the spring aligned correctly.

I'm on my third LoPro arm in about 12 years of usage... I do always push it in far enough, but it breaks eventually because of metal fatigue, just above the top bushing.
So yes I do agree that the design is flawed. A regular Floyd Rose style arm has a much thicker bottom part, and no bushings, which makes it virtually indestructible.

Re: Ibanez Edge Pro

Bar breakers dont' take this the wrong way. WTF are you doing that breaks them? Picking the guitar up by the bar, continued pulling when the trem bottoms out, or OMG wammy abuse?

Re: Ibanez Edge Pro

That's the silly thing... I'm a Les Paul-player by nature, and therefore don't really use the whammy all that often.

I've actually recorded a video of me playing the RG570 with the third bar a few months ago: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABV_XW_SguE

You think I really abuse the tremolo that much?

If you want to do the dimebag thing, then simply get an OFR arm socket assembly and outfit your Edge Pro with it and problem solved.

It's really annoying to read thread after thread with people whinning about how they're breaking their bars when they publicly admit to abusing the hell out of them and then you got people like widlchild wanting to get money back for all the bars he's bought? Didn't you read the warranty terms on the guitar? It explicitly says that it doesn't cover wear & tear

Jimmy
