Ibanez Edge trem - Can it be installed??

I'm thinking about chaning the floyd on my guitar and I suggested the Ibanzez Edge.
Can this be installed on any guitar (my floyd it mounted floating above the body and not within the body like the ibanez edge/lo-pro)

And plus, can I also pull up on this without my strings snapping?? Or is it just the jem that can do it?

Ibanez Edge trem

OK, first i was going to lock this thread, because there are several topics in the ARCHIVE that address the trem swap questions, but none with non-recessed guitars, which are not popular these days.

First, most decent trems should allow *some* pull-up without breaking strings.

In regard to the non-recessed guitar, I'd probably swap guitars before swapping trems. The "above body" mount requires a longer tremolo block which have not been used since 1986 on ibanez guitars. See picture below. You could probably order one, but that only adds to the price. I just don't see the benefits here, given the body routing.

As luck would have it, I may have just the parts you're looking for. I know for fact that I have the needed studs and inserts for the Edge trem. They were tacken from an older Road Star before the resessed trems. I will have to check, but I think I even have the longer tremelo block as well.

Let me know via email if I can help.

Ibanez Edge trem

Cool Jimm, I might need the trem block because I'm buying the trem off my friend who one had it on his charvel, and it had a tremolo-routed body.
So I'll let you know if I need it
