Ibanez Jem 777 maple neck refinish/ question
Hey everybody, I recently acquired an original Jem777. The neck is super clean, It appears to have no finish on it. My questions are, am I okay to just play the guitar as is without putting a finish on the neck? I understand it will soak up dirt and grime more quickly this way, but is it going to hurt anything? If it is a huge problem, what is a simple/ yet effective way of "sealing" the fretboard....what sort of product do I need to use? Suggestions and information is appreciated. Thank you
Cale

Hi, what I'd recommend to get a beautiful, easy and protective job is gun stock oil. I personally use Tru-Oil, it's very easy to aplly and just follow the instructrions if you want a shiney or matte coat.

It depends on your budget. You could have it shot with a nitro finish for big bucks, you could get a can of re-ranch clearcoat poly and spray it in your garage for less, or coat it with oil like nsabino suggested.
Do some research - the guitar is worth sinking some money into so figure out what's best for you. Good luck.

Re: Ibanez Jem 777 maple neck refinish/ question
Birchwood-Casey Tru-Oil, but any good quality gunstock oil will work. Use a small amount, leave it on for just 5 minutes, then it off with a paper towel. After that, apply Birchwood-Casey Gunstock Wax. Be sure to douse the paper towel with water before disposing of it! Read the wax and oil manufacturer's instructions regarding disposal of these used paper towels.
Birchwood-Casey products are available at most sporting goods or gun stores or directly. Their web address is
