Ibanez JS Neck Pickup - Is it Reversed?

I thought I heard back a few years ago that Joe installed his neck pup spun around; meaning the wiring came out the top of the pickup instead of the bottom of the pickup.

Is that true - Or even how JS1000/1200's are setup today?

Thanks,

Re: Ibanez JS Neck Pickup - Is it Reversed?

Ibanez wiring diagrams show the bridge pup as "Reversed Type Dimarzio Pickup" and neck pup as normal. The output wire for the bridge pup exits at the coil furthest from the bridge, and on the low-E side. Normally, the output wires exit from the coil closest to the bridge on the hi-E side. By "Reversed" pickup they mean that Dimarzio stamps their logo on the bridge pup so that it is in the normal location (bridge side coil), even though the pickup is rotated relative to a normal pickup. Make sense? So you can accomplish the same thing by simply rotating a regular pickup, but the logo (if present) will be upside down.
Bert

(EDIT: see my correction below. It's the neck pup that's reversed, not the bridge)

If I read this one, it seems to be the opposite of what you're saying:

It looks like the bottom pup is the bridge and top pup the neck.

Ah, Scarello -- you're right! I was basing it on this diagram from the Ibanez site for the JS1000 and JS6000. I was looking at the diagram in the upper left, but that just shows what they mean by "reversed." In the main diagram it clearly labels the neck as the reversed one. Sorry!

Re: Ibanez JS Neck Pickup - Is it Reversed?

I've seen that one years ago as well.

I think that the main part of what that depicts is the same as what I posted, only difference is the graphic they also show in the top left, If I read it right, is just showing the difference between a normal and rotated/flipped pickup; not neccesarily that it shows a bridge/neck config in the much larger image.

I'm basing that on the wiring from the switch and the switch position.

But again, I could be wrong - Wouldn't be the first time
